Plumbing and heating in Torfaen
We are based in Cwmbran, so Torfaen is not a place we drive out to — it is where we are. Same-day call-outs, and usually a short drive.
Flow N Flame is based in Cwmbran, in the middle of Torfaen. Most of our work is within a few miles of the yard, which is the main reason we can promise a same-day call-out and aim to be with you inside two hours.
What that means in practice
If your boiler fails on a January morning, we are not coming from the other side of the county. We know the housing stock here — the older terraces in Pontypool with their conventional systems and loft tanks, the newer estates around Cwmbran that went in with combis, and what tends to go wrong with each.
What we do here
Boiler installation, repair and servicing, powerflushing, radiators, smart controls, bathrooms, and general plumbing. Everything we offer, we offer in Torfaen.
Qualified and insured
Gas Safe registered 630601, G3 for unvented cylinders, BPEC and WRAS approved, and a BAXI approved installer. Public liability insurance, and a two-year workmanship guarantee on everything we do.

Frequently asked questions
What to do if you smell gas?
Turn the gas off at the meter, open the windows and doors, and get everyone out of the house. Do not touch light switches, do not use a phone indoors, and do not light anything. Ring the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 from outside; the line is free and staffed around the clock. Repairs come after the supply has been made safe.
Do I need a gas safety certificate?
Only landlords are legally required to have one, renewed every twelve months by a Gas Safe registered engineer. If you own and live in the house there is no legal duty, though a check is worth having if you have just moved in and know nothing about the appliances. It is not the same job as a boiler service, but both can be done in one visit. Our Gas Safe number is 630601.
What are the signs of a good plumber?
A price and the reasoning behind it before work starts, arrival when they said, and honesty about jobs that are not worth doing. Check the Gas Safe number on the register rather than taking the van livery on trust. Ask what the workmanship guarantee is and whether it is written down; ours is two years.
How long to wait for an emergency plumber?
Two to four hours is a common answer, and considerably longer during a cold snap when a whole county rings on the same morning. We are based in Cwmbran and offer same-day call-outs across Torfaen, aiming to be with you inside two hours. Our hours are weekdays from 8am, Saturdays 9am to 3pm and Sundays 10am to 2pm.
What is a reasonable call out charge for a plumber?
£50 to £100 for the first hour is the normal range in the UK, higher for evenings, weekends and genuine emergencies. Part of what any call-out fee covers is travel, so a firm based in the county costs less to reach you than one driving in from further afield. Ask what the fee includes and whether it comes off the final bill.
